Why we started Dimmies

Dimmies was born from a vision to bridge the gap between modern-day Chinese cuisine and what's widely available for Canadians today.

As third-culture kids, we grew up loving our cultural cuisine and traditions, but also lived in a world where our at-home norms and culture were not reflected in the broader community.

As adults, we wanted to be able to share our culture with everyone. To do this effectively, we knew that we needed to find a way to share our culture in an accessible way, while still maintaining its authenticity.

    Why dim sum?

Dim sum was the avenue through which we chose to share our culture with Canadians for no other reason than we really like dim sum. Our goal is to preserve the essence of dim sum (which is about being with family, friends, and building community) while increasing visibility and accessibility of this beloved tradition to all Canadians.

What does it mean to make dim sum ‘accessible’? We believe it means helping Canadians understand what dim sum is, making it easy to purchase and prepare, and yes, sometimes bending the rules to accommodate different preferences and lifestyles.

    Dimmies' mantra

Dimmies will always be rooted in traditional flavours, but definitely expect some fun, progressive, and even ‘out of the box’ behaviour from our brand.

We hope that what we’re trying to do with Dimmies is a journey you can join and support us on. But even more importantly, we hope that you love our dumplings and you enjoy them anytime, anywhere, with anyone.
